Recognise suspicious links and messages
A familiar logo, account name or search result does not prove who operates a website. Check the complete address; a look-alike name or an unexpected change of domain is a reason to stop. HTTPS encrypts the connection but does not establish that the recipient is trustworthy.
- Pause if a message pressures you to act immediately or threatens an account restriction.
- Do not send a password, OTP or recovery code to a person in chat, over a call or in a screenshot.
- Do not install an attachment or unknown APK, bypass a browser security warning or give remote access because a message tells you to.
- If you need to verify a message, use contact information you obtained independently, not a number or link inside that message.

Protect passwords, OTPs and recovery codes
Use a different, strong password for each account, especially your email. A password manager can generate and store unique passwords. Avoid names, birthdays and favourite-team names. See the NCSC password guidance.
Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) wherever the service offers it. It adds a check beyond a password, but does not make every message or login request genuine. Reject an unexpected approval request. Keep recovery codes private and stored safely. Keep your browser, device and security software updated. A request to disable protection is not a normal requirement for reading this guide.
What to do if you already shared information
You shared a password
Stop communicating with the suspicious sender. From a trusted device, change the compromised password through the genuine service. Change it on other accounts where you reused it, including email. Do not use a reset link supplied by the suspected scammer.
You shared banking details or lost money
Contact your bank or payment provider promptly through a known, independently verified channel. Explain what was shared and follow its fraud-response advice. Do not send further money to someone promising recovery.
You opened a suspicious link or installed software
Close the suspicious page and do not enter more information. Run a full scan with your device’s trusted security software. On a work device, contact your IT team and describe what happened.
You shared an OTP or approved a request
Treat the affected account as potentially compromised. Use its genuine security or recovery process, not the sender’s instructions. Do not approve further requests. Keep a private record of the time and message.

Document a problem without exposing private data

Account-safety questions
Does HTTPS mean a website is genuine?
No. HTTPS protects data in transit, but a deceptive website can also use it. Verify the full address and the identity of the recipient independently.
Should I give a support agent my OTP or password?
No. Do not send passwords, one-time codes or recovery codes to a person. A request made through chat or a call can be an impersonation attempt, even when the sender uses a familiar name.
What if I used the same password on several accounts?
If that password was exposed, change it on every account where it was reused. Use unique replacements and protect your email account, which may receive password-reset messages.
Does this page verify a BetPro or Bpexch login address?
No. It provides general security guidance and does not verify any login destination, operator, licence or service availability. Similar names are not proof that two services share an operator.
Can this guide guarantee that an account or money will be recovered?
